  • re-gret

    1.

to feel sorrow or remorse for (an act, fault, disappointment, etc.)

I always thought it was odd when people say "I don't regret anything in my life" because surely, there are at least a couple of things you wished you did differently or wished you had done. Of course, we learn from those regrets and those regrets caused a chain of events that led you to the life you have today but do you truly don't have regrets? Isn't "regret" a natural emotion in every human? Of course, we are who we are today because of decisions we made in past but "regretting" what you've done or didn't do doesn't make your life today any less wonderful. It is natural that we would feel remorse or sorrow for some things in our past -- how else could we learn from our mistakes or take that lesson to become a better person? Regrets are what makes us better today than yesterday. So, with this being said, I DO have regrets and I have many. Those are regrets that made me appreciate what I have today so much more than I could ever if I didn't have those regrets. Those are regrets that helped me become the person I want to be and they taught me how to make better decisions in life. I guess we should say "I don't regret having regrets"!

So, go ahead and regret, just pull out lessons from those and go on to being a better person.

  • I wept as I remembered how often you and I had tired the sun with talking and sent him down the sky. - William Cory, "Heraclitus"

I find that my friendships went through most changes in my 20's and there are many reasons why; lifestyle, proximity, values, interests and so on. There are some friends who I've been really close with during my childhood that I don't really talk to anymore and there are some friends who I've been close during college that I don't have things in common with anymore. It is not a terrible thing nor is it a wonderful thing, it just is. Although this happens to a lot of people and it is common in 20's, I can't help but to grieve for some friendships that are lost or diminished. Those are friendships that made most change within myself and ones that really defined my life at the time. So, when I saw this quote (above), I immediately thought about couple of friends who I've lost in touch with or friendships that are just not the same anymore. I do miss those days of talking all day and night, about things that are important and things that are not. I do miss those days of crying on their shoulders and having them pep me up for another day ahead of me. I do miss those days of doing crazy things with them and keeping that as our own secret. There are just a lot of things I miss about being close with couple of those friends. Although I could never relive those moments, I am grateful that I have those memories to look back to.

I can only hope that I will create new memories with new friends as powerful as ones created in the past.

  • Rosie's Ramblings

I bought this thing with curlers in a box over 2 years ago, you plug it in and wait until its hot before putting curlers on your hair. Well, I was bored today and decided to try it. It ACTUALLY worked! I looked like 1950's housewife or something but it was cute! I didn't do it perfectly because the bottom part of each curl was bent but next time, I will do it right and hopefully use it to doll up for next event! It wasn't so hard doing it -- I watched CSI Miami while doing my hair and time went by fast. One show equals warming up the box, putting it in, waiting for it to do its job and take it out! Not bad!

Few months ago, I bought a book with writing exercises and I really want to do those exercises now, so I probably will post what I write once in a while. The first exercise is to find a wedding picture and write a story about that picture, so I'm thinking about using my grandparents' wedding picture. Should be fun!

It doesnt feel like a beginning of 2009 yet -- most workplaces are closed until Monday, so I'm kinda restless. I want to get started with finding a stable job (I only have one job that isn't stable and only depends on how many students I tutor). I really need to find something that will bring in the money regularly as opposed to little that month, more next month, maybe almost nothing the next month, etc. So, pray for me!

I don't know if you remembered a blog from few months ago about PCOS but I finally saw a specialist 3 weeks ago and will start treatment on Monday (after I get my bloodwork done). So, I am excited to see what changes will happen, if it does happen! I really want to lose weight, feel healthier and get my body ready for babies! (We're not trying for a baby this year, so don't keep on checking my blogs to see if I am pregnant! :)) It is SO important to me that I am healthy for pregnancy AND for motherhood afterwards; I want to be an active, healthy mom and a good role model for our children.

We moved into our new apartment a month ago and it still looks awkward, ugh! We need some furniture to make it look full and we haven't decorated the place but money is the issue, so I guess I have to be patient! Right now, we only have one 40 dollars loveseat from salvation army to use until we save enough for really good couches from The Brick or Leons. So, I'm feeling frustrated that I don't feel quite home yet. I just have to learn to be patient, enjoy what we DO have and take pleasure in decorating one room at a time.

    More rambling later!

p.s I absolutely love Law and Order, CSI (NY, LV and Miami) and all kinds of crime tv. It's nice to get lost into the story and give myself a break from reality. I need that every now and then.
